This is a multiple choice listing of several single medals and one group of five boxed. Please see the note at the foot of this panel for info about the group of five, issued to the same man. Each example has images and description of its own. The main image does not show them all to the same scale.

All are full size original. Please note that the French government used many mints to produce medals. Hence slight differences in pattern and the boxes of issue used at any time. The Croix du Combattant, Allied Victory Medal, Commemorative Medal, Medaille Militaire and Croix de Geurre are the five regular issue medals for or during WWI service. The Croix du Combattant was created in 1930 and issued retrospectively for those who had been under fire.

The Medaille Militaire and Croix de Geurre were both earned by service above the call of duty. The five are from the same estate, a descendant of C Guyau of 160 avenue Carnot, La Rochelle - a larger than most gated property now fronted by a florist at 158 BIS.
