Rare T. L. B. Limoges Art Deco White & Silver Coffee-for-two Set Rooster Mark

  

Maker : By the turn of the last century, over 200 firms were producing some of the world's finest and most beautiful porcelain wares in the Limoges region of France. One was the company called d'Albis and Romanet, established in 1868, that just after World War 1 became Touze, Lemaître Frères & Blancher, or T. Limoges, the firm that produced this superb coffee set for two. Age : The set has the company's rare T. Limoges mark featuring a green rooster.

Design : Through its distinctive shapes as well as the pattern, the set suggests the classic design of the Art Deco era, with silver swirls and circles against a background of fine white porcelain. Composition and size : The set consists of. One coffee pot with its lid, about 10 inches long between the tip of the spout and the far end of the handle, 3 1/2 inches wide at the top and about 6 1/2 inches tall at the center. It weighs 1 pound 7 ounces.

One sugar bowl with its lid, about 7 inches long between the tip of the spout and the far end of the handle, 2 inches wide at the top and 4 7/8 inches tall at the center. One creamer with its lid, 3 inches wide at the top, 2 1/8 inches wide at the base and about 4 inches tall without the lid. Two dessert plates, 7 inches wide. Two cups, 4 inches wide and 1 3/4 inches tall. Two saucers, 5 5/8 inches wide.

The set weighs 4 pounds 5 ounces. Condition : Nine of the 12 pieces are in excellent condition with no marks, nicks, chips, cracks, crazing, stains, repairs or significant wear. Most of the bases have discolored a bit. The other 3 pieces have the following flaws - they are shown in the photos with the red arrows and pennies. The creamer's lid has 2 chips that are more visible on the inside but can also be seen when the lid is in place. One dessert plate has a shallow chip on the back edge that is slightly visible from the front. The other dessert plate has several embedded dark spots on the front and several spots of paint on the back.
