Each locomotive was limited to a production of only 3000 pieces. The set is housed in a beautiful wooden presentation box and comprises of three locomotives each with an individually numbered certificate.
(1) SIR RALPH WEDGWOOD 1939 - 1942 LNER 4-6-2 CLASS A4 LOCOMOTIVE. In March 1938 a new LNER A4 locomotive entered service with the name "Gadwell" number 4469. A year later the Chief General Manager of the LNER retired and it was decided to rename "Gadwell" in his honour. Consequently, on March 3rd 1939 No 4469 became Sir Ralph Wedgwood. (2) SIR RALPH WEDGWOOD 1944 - 1947 LNER 4-6-2 CLASS A4 LOCOMOTIVE. Within a month of being repainted wartime black in 1942, the Sir Ralph Wedgwood was seriously damaged an air raid on the the. City of York and had to be withdrawn from service.In 1944 the LNER decided to reinstate the name "Sir Ralph" and selected another A4 "Herring Gull" number 4466 for renaming. Thus Sir Ralph Wedgwood reappeared but this time carrying the number 4466. (3) SIR RALPH WEDGWOOD 1962 - 1965 BR 4-6-2 CLASS A4 LOCOMOTIVE. In 1948 "Sir Ralph Wedgwood" under BR ownership was re-numbered 60006.
